Novacrochet (“we,” “us,” “our”) operates novacrochet.com. This page explains what we collect from visitors, why, and what say you have over it.

1. Information We Collect

  • Email address, only if you sign up for a free pattern or join the mailing list ;
  • Usage data, pages visited, time spent, referral source, general device and browser type, approximate location (never precise GPS spot) ;
  • Cookies, see section 4.

We don’t ask for payment details, government IDs, or anything else sensitive directly through the site. If that ever changes (say, a future paid product), this policy will be updated first.

2. How We Use It

  • Deliver the pattern or resource you signed up for, plus occasional emails about new content ;
  • Look at aggregate trends, which pages actually get read, to decide what to make next ;
  • Serve ads through ad networks that are somewhat relevant instead of completely random ;
  • We do not sell your personal information. Not in bulk, not one-off, not ever.

3. Third-Party Services

  • Ad network: places the ads on this site and may use cookies tied to your browsing here and elsewhere. Its own privacy statement and ad settings let you manage your preferences.
  • Email platform: Mailchimp and/or Brevo. This section gets the provider’s name and privacy-policy link once one is chosen.
  • Amazon Associates: not live yet. The moment it is, this page and every page carrying an affiliate link get the required FTC disclosure added.

4. Cookies & Tracking

  • Functional cookies, remember basic preferences as you browse ;
  • Analytics cookies, tell us which pages get traffic and which don’t ;
  • Advertising cookies, used by ad networks to serve relevant ads;
  • We honor Do Not Track browser signals wherever that’s technically possible ;
  • Block or clear cookies anytime in your browser settings, a few site features may work less smoothly without them, but the site stays usable.

5. How We Protect Your Data

  • Encryption, traffic between your browser and our site runs over HTTPS ;
  • Limited access, only people who need it can reach anything sensitive ;
  • Reputable hosting, industry-standard providers, not a server under someone’s desk ;
  • No service can promise zero risk, and we won’t claim otherwise, but if a breach ever affects you, we’ll notify you as required by law.

6. Your Privacy Rights

If you’re in the EU, UK, or California, you have real rights over the data described above, access, correction, deletion, and a few others depending on where you live. We gave that its own page instead of folding it in here, mostly because the two laws don’t work identically and cramming both into a handful of bullet points was doing them a disservice. The full breakdown, including how to actually put in a request, lives on our Your Privacy Rights page.

Writing in from somewhere else? Same deal. Email contact@novacrochet.com if you want to know what we hold on you or want it gone, you don’t need to prove which law applies to you first.

7. International Visitors

The site runs from the US. Visiting from elsewhere means your data may be processed here, under US standards, which aren’t always identical to your home country’s rules.

Some pages link out (a yarn supplier, a tool we recommend, a source we cite). Once you click through, their privacy practices take over, we’re not responsible for what happens on someone else’s site.

9. Data Retention

We hold onto personal information only as long as it actually serves the purposes above, then let it go rather than stockpiling it indefinitely.

10. Children’s Privacy

We’re not chasing young visitors here, this is a crochet blog, not a kids’ platform. Nobody under 13 should be handing over personal info to us, and honestly, we’re not set up to collect it in the first place. Slipped through anyway? Tell us and it’s gone. No forms, no runaround, just send us an email and we handle it.

11. Changes to This Policy

The effective date up top reflects the current version. We’ll update it as practices evolve, worth a glance every so often, especially before the affiliate program goes live.
